Power Crisis in Pakistan
What are the five things you think Pakistan should do to solve it's electricity crisis?
Make a list and briefly explain it. Your ideas should fall in order of importance.

1) Build more dams because HEP is not only environmentally friendly but HEP power stations produce huge amounts of electricity.
2)Use renewable resources as alternative fuels
3)Excavate and utilize coal and gas reserves present in Balochistan and untapped areas of Pakistan
4)Plan 20-25 years into the future and aim for future prospects
5)Control Pakistan's population growth and decrease the amount of electricity consumption by placing restrictions.
6)Employ new technologies eg. nuclear power plants to produce loads of energy in densely populated areas
7)Put up restrictions on energy theft
8)Borrow electricty from neighbouring countries or cooperate with neighbouring countries to produce more electricity.
1) Construction of more dams to increase HEP generation on a large scale. Small dams should be built as they are more effective than larger dams.
2) Use of non renewable resources like tidal energy on the coastal areas and wind energy to produce electricity. Solar energy is abundant in Pakistan which should be utilized on a large scale.
3) Use of coal and natural gas for electricity generation. Heat produced by burning of coal can be used to run the turbines.
4) Strong steps should be taken against electricity theft.
5) Amount of electricity usage should be controlled. Usage of as less electricity as possible should be encouraged.
6) Electricity can be imported from neighbouring countries if production is not meeting the demand.
(1)Concentrate on the efficiency of production.
(2)Use the blessing of abundant coal and other fossil fuels, intelligently.
(3)Use renewable techniques.
(4)Use good quality wires and power-lines which have minimum resistance.
(5)Replace old machines in industries, which use electricity.

(1) Use renewable techniques.
(2) Take full advantage of the blessing of abundant fossil fuels like coal and natural gas, intelligently.
(3) Take serious notice/action against theft of electricity and fuels during transportation.
(4) Use high quality wires
(5) Concentrate and and plan on efficiency of production
(6) replace very old heavy-duty machinery
(7) create public awareness
1)start using solar energy as it is free of cost and abundantly available.
2)wind power as it is relatively cheaper
3)use of energy efficient materials in buildings
4)installation of automatic shut off lighting
5)use of high efficiency motors, pumps and controllers
6)more use of renewable resources as they are sustainable

Good job XC I am still waiting for the rest of your comments. Keep them coming. Although one post is mandatory but if later you find any other bright idea, you are welcome to post it here. I will Post the top 10 ideas of yours once everyone has done it.

1] Find renewable resources as soon as possible.
2] Government of Pakistan should try to solve the problem of Kalabagh dam to produce more HEP.
3] Development of solar energy through Chinese products.
4] Work on untapped resources such as coal and natural gas reserves in Balochistan.
5] Investment through private sector.
1) The construction of Kalah Bagh dam,as it is believed that it's construction will most likely solve the energy crisis in Pakistan.
2) Renewable energy sources must be promoted by the government e.g wind energy. This will provide greener AND cheap energy after the initial capital.
3) Create awareness in people through NGO's and government policy about not wasting energy.
4) Construction of small dams, which require low initial investment and provide HEP.Thus they suit Pakistan's devoloping economy.
5) Lack of efficient administration in the electricity department, thus corruption prevails which leaves less money for the projects and thus the growing demand of electricity can not be met.

nimra kanwal says:
1)build more dams for more HEP production.
2)use of more energy efficient products, machines and wires etc
3)strict laws/punishments for energy theft
4)using wind power as an alternative
5)creating awareness in people to turn their lights off when they are not needed.
6)avoiding non-renewable energy resources
>Natural gas can be used as a fuel in power station to generate electricity.
>Bio gas can be used for rural electrification.
>energy conservation methods should be introduced
>Markets and commercial places can reduce their power consumption by changing their working hours like they should try to do maximum work in daylight hours.
>Strict implementation of laws against energy theft
